The 33 Project
Morning. Oof it’s been a week.
I don’t have much to add — except that I’m recovering from being sick. What a relief to be able to breathe through ones nose.
Ok, onto the recs:
1/ Definitely interested in reading Han Kang’s latest novel, We Do Not Part.
“It’s pain and it is blood, but it’s the current of life, connecting the part that could be left to die and the part that is living,” she said in Korean in a video call from her home in Seoul. “Connecting dead memories and the living present, thereby not allowing anything to die off. That’s not just about Korean history, I thought, it’s about all humanity.”
Seems like a fitting post-Squid Game S2 read. Wasn’t that brutal?
2/ On David Lynch.
The dread and darkness in his work, all those fears expressed of society, machinery, people, were but one facet of a grander, more endearing vision of humanity. There is no good without evil in Lynch’s world, and the full expression of one demands the other.
3/ How 27 filmmakers came together to make Coldplay’s epic, sprawling video for 🌈 (Alien Hits/Alien Radio). Pretty cool!
That’s all for this week! Off to watch the Oscar nomination announcements! Have a great Thursday.
